The Brittany Ferry Hilton

Smooth run in the car today despite my major panic this am when I couldn't find my passport!

You know that usual place you leave it well it wasn't there and I then proceeded to rip the house apart looking for it! It 'twas found after plenty of choice words but not the most relaxing way to start the hols!

So we are now aboard the Bretagne aka Brittany ferry Hilton and wending our way out of Portsmouth Harbour with the Spinniker Tower in full chrimbo light mode behind us.

Relatively calm sea and not much wind. We were ravenous by the time we got on board and headed for some food. Pleasantly surprised, it was delicious and freshly cooked.

Not so good is the man in the dj booth singing his heart out to all things sixties. The night is young I suppose, it can only get better.

Titanic isn't on the film menu and the captain we are told isn't planning a quick detour to some nearby island to wave hello to friends so we should be okay.

The cabin from the quick peek we had ain't bad and we have been spared nylon sheets....so all in all a great start to the hols.

The icing on the cake is das captain has waved at Endurance, Dauntless and HMS Victory and is one happy bunny after some naval nostalgia.

We now have a duet at the dj booth....time to go to the bar....

Au revoir
