They were picked at the beginning of the week and being ginless at the time they went straight in the freezer. This morning they,ve come out and the laborious job of pricking them took place before they met their maker in the kilner jar with the sugar and gin. Folklore says you should only prick the sloes with silver and not metal!
I love the way over the next few weeks with the daily shake they will turn the clear liquor into a deep rich crimson and by chrinklemouse day will be a gorgeous tipple to warm the cockles of anyone's heart.
