Birthday Swail

Arrived back at das bot last night after a manic week in the office. Gorgeous evening supplemented by a swooper tuna supper at Jolly Jacks and Andy Murray making it through to the final at Wimbledon. A great barmy summers evening.

0530 this am what a difference....thick fog was the morning greeting but its finally clearing and the sun is out. It's my father in laws birthday today....happy birthday Bob and they have their sea legs on and are joining us on Mairadon to go down to Fowey.

It,ll be double celebrations tonight then after their epic voyage beyond the breakwater. Just waiting for das captain who has popped over to the chandlery for some spare boat parts and then we,re off!

Ouch!

Hmmmmm.......suntan lotion. I am meticulous come rain, cloud or shine that I am slapped with sunscreen, and high factor at that.

I have been caught out painfully this weekend and am somewhat perplexed and very sore. Having slapped well all over at high factor prior to our swail yesterday everywhere was ok except my face which to put it mildly took a beating.

Extraordinarily painful yesterday am, I was in fear of blistering on my face, despite all my lathering of facial cream last night....I looked like I was going to bed the night before with yoghurt lathered over my face. Tonight after finding my trusted aloe vera things have calmed down and I escaped the worse......phew.

Still perplexed as to how I got to this....it's a first but am taking no chances going forward....factor 50 facial going forward no matter what!

Itzy Bitzy Spider!

The Exeter Barrier Reef is thriving, this sea monster comes out to play when food is added, other than that he skulks in his cave all day! He looks cool when his tentacles peek out to feed.
We,ve only had one minor scare when the flame fish was missing in action for 24hrs........and then returned slightly thinner but intact.
The daily parcel deliveries seem to have slowed down so I guess das captain is pleased with the set up now or there are literally no more gizzmondos to buy! The dosing system is in so that should stand us in good stead for our two week holiday in a few weeks time, or we,ll be getting reef sitters in!

Tipping Eight!

This was our lunch view today as we dropped the pick in Cawsands. Prior to that we let rip across The Sound and beyond the breakwater. Red Snapper is in fine fettle and didn't disappoint.....seven plus knots and we even hit the magical eight!

It was lush out there today...perfect swailing weather. Post lunch after watching the world go by we gave the new engine another good run....she really purrs like a dream....we are two happy happy bunnies.

Back Swailing

Yesterday we hit the water to test out RedSnapper for the first time this year. We had a blast, nothing broke and we crooned over our new bot engine and her quietness.

We zipped round Plymouth Sound and beyond the breakwater. Gloriously sunny with a brisk breeze and swell we tacked and gybed and generally had a blast.

We almost didn't put her back in this year after the gloom of last year....so glad we did.

Looking Dapper

It 'twas a very excited captain and galley slave that headed down to Mayflower yesterday on the most gorgeous day.

Das bot that greeted us equally looks amazing, woodwork outside and in is stunning and she has an extra twinkle about her which might be due to her new ubba cool engine.

Whilst das captain finished off the sound proofing I put the final polish on the topsides then it was some teamwork to get her sails back on.

She is now good to go, so out across the Sound we shall go today to test her out. I can't get over how quiet the new engine is, flipping marvellous so it's a question now of breaking her in gently.

On the marina front, the Norwegians are here picking up their flotilla of super yachts. It must be positively tropical for them here right now compared to home.

Our new home is right beside them with a fab view of William Yard and the route out to sea....happy bunnies we r, let the swailing season begin!

Das Bot Has Splashed!

How cool does she look in the slings! What a handsome bot and it doesn't tell the tale of what has gone inside.

Das captain and me aka galley slave are very happy swailors to be back in safe and sound. Gutted to miss the big day but ultra happy to talk to das captain this evening after a safe launch and hear him purring about the new engine...stoked is an understatement and that's without the additional sound proofing that he has planned.

The new berth parking went without a hitch and the panoramic views are to die for......happy happy happy.

Can't wait to get down there this weekend for a sort and swail....on a more serious note I have taken my destructions seriously and all are still alive on the Exeter Great Barrier Reef whilst das captain is away!
